Eric B. began developing his skills as a DJ while experimenting with turntables and studying the techniques of influential New York DJs. He eventually worked with radio station WBLS in New York, where he became connected to the local hip-hop scene and began searching for an MC whose style could complement his production. This search led him to meet Rakim, forming the partnership that would change hip-hop history.
